Which conveyor rollers are better to choose for stable conveyor operation?

Conveyor lines are used in food and light industries, as well as in factories and factories producing electronic goods, household appliances, medicines and cars. A conveyor is a transport mechanism that moves components or finished products from one unit to another. The key parts of the conveyor are special rollers, the reliability of which determines the productivity and efficiency of the enterprise. Types of conveyor equipment
Conveyor rollers are the main components of the transport structure that can withstand significant weight and dynamic loads. Almost all existing modifications of conveyor equipment are equipped with roller supports:

belt conveyors are universal systems used to move bulk and piece goods both in the horizontal plane and on a slope. The principle of operation of these conveyors lies in the continuous rotation of the drive drums, which ensure the movement of the looped belt along the rollers fixed on the support frame. They prevent the web from shifting. In addition, they support the tape, give it the required shape;
Important information! Stationary, mobile or telescopic (sliding) belt conveyors can be used depending on the parameters of the transported cargo or in case of production need.

chain conveyors - wear-resistant and heat-resistant structures used to work with massive, dimensional products. Most often, chain conveyors are used in the coal mining industry or in heavy engineering. The rotation of the rollers attached to the frame is carried out by means of a special drive responsible for the movement of the conveyor chain;
roller tables - roller mechanisms designed to move bulky piece loads. Conveyors of this type can be driven or gravitational, straight or rotary, horizontal or inclined. Rollers in roller conveyors are load-carrying elements; they move objects along the conveyor due to their continuous rotation on fixed axes.
The safety of products, as well as the durability of the conveyor equipment, depend on the easy and smooth movement of the roller support.

Design features of rollers
Depending on the purpose of the parts, the intensity of the load and the dustiness of the production, it is possible to use conveyor rollers in a collapsible and non-collapsible body. In addition, the models differ in the type of bearings installed, the material of manufacture and the thickness of the cylinder walls (shells). They are divided into several functional types:

smooth rollers - standard strong and reliable products that can withstand heavy weight;
deflector rollers - models equipped with a bracket and designed for directional belt movement. Eliminate its displacement under the influence of the transported cargo;
shock absorbing products. They have an elastic contact layer, serve to soften the weight load and impacts when placing products on the conveyor.
The choice of modification of rollers depends on the width of the conveyor belt, as well as on the massiveness of the cargo and other properties of the transported items.

Attention! To reduce the wear of the conveyor belt and prevent premature bearing failure, special lined (rubberized) rollers are produced.

The main causes of conveyor line breakdowns
Failure of one or more rollers can stall the movement of the conveyor and negatively affect the productivity of the entire enterprise. Usually the following reasons lead to breakage of conveyor rollers:

abrasion of the contact layer;
ingress of dirt and dust into bearings;
lack of special lubrication in the rotation unit;
poor fit of the ball bearing on the axis or in the housing;
misalignment or jamming of the part;
corrosive processes in the bearing housing.
To solve the above problems, manufacturers of roller bearings are constantly working on modernizing products and using new materials and technologies for their manufacture.

Caution! One of the most common causes of conveyor failure is equipment with non-rotating roller bearings. This leads to rapid abrasion of the belt and an increase in the temperature of the contact layer, increases the resistance to the movement of the conveyor.

Advantages of polymer rollers
Increasingly, enterprises operating in various fields of activity use rollers made of synthetic materials for conveyor lines in their production. Polymer products (with the same rigidity with steel parts) have a number of advantages over their metal counterparts:

tightness of the bearing assembly;
silent work;
resistance to aggressive chemical compounds (alkali, acid);
impact strength;
weight is 50% less than that of steel;
resistance to corrosive processes;
low probability of belt damage when the support is destroyed;
easy cleaning of parts from dust and dirt.
Also, the advantages of polymer rollers include a long service life and an affordable cost of these synthetic parts. For consumables that need regular updates, this is a very big plus.
