Wheels with rubber tires. Features of choice

How to Choose Rubber Tire Wheels for Transport Trolleys
In order for warehouse equipment to have characteristics that allow comfortable and productive use of various equipment and tools for the set goals, it must be equipped with high-quality and wear-resistant wheels with an increased margin of safety and resistance to the environment. Today, manufacturers offer a wide range of products that differ from each other in the material of the base (disc) and the contact layer, diameter, level of workload and other parameters. The most versatile option and the most common in use are wheels with a rubber tire. They are used on those types of transport trolleys that are designed to move goods on roads with surfaces of various quality.

Why choose rubber wheels
The advantages of the products are as follows:

increased service life. The rubber layer is abrasion resistant;
wide range of operating temperatures. Rubber wheels retain their operational properties at t from –20 to +60 degrees Celsius;
ability to withstand high loads. Depending on the design features, the wheels can withstand a load of 40 to 670 kg.
Attention! An important advantage of products with a rubber tire is noiseless operation. This does not create acoustic discomfort for workers inside the building.

How to choose rubber tire wheels
The main criterion is technical characteristics. Firstly, before choosing rubber wheels, you need to pay attention to the base material (disc). For the production of the inner rim, the following are used:

steel. This material has a high margin of safety, is characterized by resistance to mechanical damage, and is designed for medium loads. The disk used for the wheels (series 10, 11, 13), presented in the catalog https://www.fregat.com.ua/katalog/, is fastened with high-strength steel rivets, has three stiffening ribs with a tubular steel hub. To improve the operational properties (resistance to corrosion, moisture), the metal surface of structural elements is treated with a zinc layer and subjected to passivation;
polypropylene. This material is characterized by increased corrosion resistance, resistance to moisture, and a large margin of safety. The catalog contains a series of products 12, 17, 29;
aluminum. Products made from this material, due to their monolithic structure, are distinguished by increased load capacity. Series 20 casters can carry up to 670 kg.
The second selection criterion is the type of material used for the production of the contact layer.

The latter is made of rubber:

standard black. The material is resistant to wear, it is designed for high loads during intensive use of the trolley, but it can leave traces during sharp maneuvers and rebuilding;
standard gray. A significant plus - does not leave marks during friction;
elastic black or blue. It is a fairly soft material that is used for the manufacture of the contact layer of wheels designed to equip trolleys used in difficult conditions (if the flooring is of poor quality, uneven relief and the presence of a large number of potholes, obstacles). Elastic black rubber does not leave marks during sharp maneuvers and changes of lane.
The third selection criterion is the way the wheel is attached to the bogie: on an axle (flanged or in a hub) or using a bracket (fixed or swivel, with a hole, on a trunnion, on a panel or rod).

The bearing is responsible for the wheel's handling and ease of use. Its type is the fourth criterion for choosing a roller for a transport trolley. The main types of bearings used in the construction of rubber wheels:

roller. Its advantage is that it practically does not require maintenance. Roller bearing is designed for high loads and provides low wheel wear;
slip. It is used in budget models that are not designed for intensive use. As a rule, trolleys equipped with plain bearing wheels move at low speeds and are designed for light loads;
ball. This is the most durable option, designed to withstand high loads when used in difficult conditions in an intensive mode.
Attention! Of no small importance when choosing rubber wheels is their load-carrying capacity class. Depending on this criterion, rollers of light, medium and heavy duty classes are distinguished. In the first case, a maximum load of up to 200 kg is created on one wheel (series 17), in the second - up to 400 kg (series 10, 12, 13, 29), in the third - more than 400 kg (series 11, 20).
