Platform cargo trolley and main areas of application

A platform cargo trolley is a specialized equipment that is used to transport various types of goods in a warehouse, shop, production facility, workshop, etc. These structures make it easier to transport, reduce the workload on workers, increase their efficiency and protect products from damage. Consider what types of carts there are and how to choose the right one for your needs.

The classic design consists of:
Frames. It is usually made of plastic or metal. The working surface on which the weights are installed is made solid, but in some cases a metal mesh is used.
Rollers. Installed from below, necessary to facilitate transportation. It is on them that the main load falls. The rollers are made of metal or polypropylene, the tires are made of rubber, polyamide, polyurethane. Wheels can be standard and swivel (usually put in a pair). The handle that is used to control the structure. Can be single or double, removable or folding. Usually made of metal. In some models, a drawbar is installed to facilitate the movement.
Additionally, trolleys can be equipped with sides and other auxiliary elements.

Varieties of designs
The main application of the platform cargo trolley is the transportation of boxes, containers and other types of cargo over short distances on hard surfaces (concrete screed, slabs, tiles, etc.). Modern manufacturers produce various types of these structures, which differ from each other in the size and type of wheels, carrying capacity, platform features, etc. Consider what types of bogies are:

Classic. The frame in them is made of a channel and covered with cold-rolled metal sheet. The design has 4 wheels (2 swivel and 2 conventional). The surface is covered with polymer powder paint, which protects the metal from corrosion and damage. The handle in such products is usually tightly welded or connected to the frame using a thread.
With a tubular (lattice) platform. They are a lightweight version of the classics. Suitable for transporting pallets or boxes. Due to the use of pipes, a high structural rigidity is achieved. Handles in such models can be single or double (from different sides).
Folding. These products are good for their compactness. They can be quickly unfolded when needed, and when not in use, they can be folded and placed in a corner or on a shelf. They are distinguished by good maneuverability, low weight, and affordable cost.
Multiplatform. The number of platforms in them can reach 2–7 units. Usually they are made in the form of a whatnot, they have two handles on different sides. An excellent option for transporting a large number of medium-sized and oversized goods.
With lattice sides. A special feature of these cargo platform carts is that they have sides of different heights. Therefore, they can be used to transport various small boxes, pipes, metal profiles and other goods, without fear that they will roll or crumble.
Note: There are other types of specialized carts. For example, heavy-duty, allowing to transport pallets or boxes weighing over 500 kilograms; stainless steel (suitable for work in wet rooms or with food), etc.

Selection rules
Before you buy a suitable trolley, you need to decide what types of goods are planned to be transported on it. If they are free-flowing, then you will need a structure with a solid platform and solid sides, if large-sized, then with increased carrying capacity or elongated.

You also need to take into account the mass of goods with which you will have to work. Standard models are designed to work with boxes, the total weight of which does not exceed 150 kilograms. There are reinforced models that can carry 500 kg or more.

Pay attention to the type of wheels. For warehouses with a flat surface, inexpensive rubber ones are suitable; for movement on the ground or rubble, select polyurethane models. If the structure is used outdoors or in a damp room, then it is better to choose galvanized options.
