Scope and types of platform trolleys

In any warehouse, a platform trolley is a must. These devices are also used in shops, industrial premises, medical institutions, that is, wherever it is necessary to transport a bulky cargo. For movement, a handle made of a hollow tube, reinforced with transverse inserts, is used. Some models provide for its removal or folding so that the device is conveniently stored or transported. All platform trolleys are coated with polymer powder paint, which is resistant to various chemical or atmospheric influences.

General device design

The products are manufactured in such a way that the load can be evenly distributed over the entire site, making it easier to move and control. Let's take a closer look at what elements the cart consists of.

• Platform.

It can be completely steel, covered with plywood, rubber-plastic or made of a metal grid. To prevent the transported boxes and other items from slipping, some models have a relief coating.

• Wheels.

It is an important element for easy movement. Load capacity and handling depend on the wheels. For each area of ​​use, certain types of wheels and their supports are designed. Structures differ in size, materials of execution, and the presence of a brake system. • Handle.

• Boards.

The version with sides is used for the transportation of piece, bulk or other unstable cargo. For many models, the sides are removed or folded, which allows transporting bulky goods. The elements can be manufactured in the form of solid or lattice walls.

Types of trolleys for different types of cargo

Modifications to platform fixtures are necessary to enhance the functionality of any task. When developing the device, the format of the transported cargo, safety factor, ergonomics, and operating conditions are taken into account. They are classified according to parameters such as:

• maximum permissible weight;
• type of site;
• type of wheel and supports;
• additional details.

The standard ones are welded models with sheet steel deck and threaded handle. They are inexpensive and well suited for work in warehouses, printing houses, and retail premises. They differ in size and carrying capacity, you can choose an option for construction work.

Important! The main platform carts are four-wheeled. But there are also two-, three- and six-wheeled models. The carrying capacity of a two-wheeled device usually does not exceed 300 kg.

There are different types of trolleys designed for special applications.

• With lattice platform.

They have increased stiffness and are used for the transportation of non-bulk bulky cargo. The cart can have handles on either side of the platform.

• Multilevel devices.

They are used in laboratories, medical institutions for the gentle transportation of small items. Several tiers allow placing different types of piece cargo.

• Folding carts.

These are models in which the handles are folded for easy storage of the device. They are manoeuvrable, practical and compact. They are used for bulk cargo.

• Devices with a rotary axis.

Needed to improve maneuverability and ease handling. They are usually equipped with a long handle, which allows transporting bulky goods. The front axle of the model has a swivel mechanism with a turn of 270 degrees, the rear is rigidly fixed. The devices are suitable for pneumatic or cast wheels, including those with a cast iron rim.

• Reinforced carts.

They are used for the transportation of heavy cargo and have many options for execution. Some are designed for lifting capacities up to 3 tons. There are models with a pivot axle and mesh sides, with an extended platform for long loads.
