Different types of rolling bearings and their importance for modern industry

Various types of bearings are widely used in all branches of industrial production. Nowadays, it is difficult to find a mechanism used for commercial purposes or in the household, which would not be equipped with a bearing assembly. The main function of these devices is to ensure the free movement of one structural element relative to another without wearing out the contacting surfaces. The design features of contact parts allow them to be divided into two main types: rolling and plain bearings.

Design features
The most common type of support mechanisms are rolling bearings. The complete set of each dynamic device includes a certain set of components:

two rings of different diameters: the outer (fixed) is in contact with the body of the mechanism, the inner (movable) is located on the axis or shaft;
rolling elements made of hardened steel: balls or rollers (needle, cylindrical, conical or barrel-shaped);
a cage (steel, polymer or brass) designed for installation of rolling parts in it at equal distance from each other.
Based on the functionality of the products, the cage holder together with the shaft can be deflected by a certain angle (self-aligning models). Also, if necessary, the bearings are equipped with additional sealing washers and auxiliary fasteners.

Attention! According to the shape of the rolling elements located in the cage, spare parts are divided into ball bearings and roller bearings. According to the number of rows of these parts, one-, two-, three- and four-row modifications are distinguished.

Product classification by load vector
Manufacturers produce different types of rolling bearings depending on the permissible vector of the load on the mechanism:

radial - mounted on shafts that experience pressure from the center to the outer diameter;
persistent - designed for the perception of axial loads;
universal - combine the properties of both listed options.
When choosing parts, it is necessary to take into account not only the direction of force, but also the diameter of the device, its operating conditions, and the continuous operation time of the bearings.

Important! Do not forget that bearings of various sizes and types differ in their load capacity and rotational speed, as well as wheels, which can be viewed in our catalog: https://www.fregat.com.ua/katalog

Areas of application of bearing mechanisms
Rolling bearings belong to the class of high precision devices. The most stringent requirements are imposed on their characteristics. The absence of frequent breakdowns and unjustified downtime are the main qualities that are appreciated by most enterprises using such mechanisms equipped with ball bearings or roller bearings:

agricultural machinery;
railway transport;
lifting and transport structures;
aircrafts;
machine-building and steel-making machines;
conveyor lines for food, pharmaceutical or light industries;
wheels for furniture, food carts, medical equipment.
For consumers representing any field of activity, it is important that the equipment, during continuous intensive work, can be operated for the longest possible period.

Useful advice! To extend the service life, use a special grease of various consistencies - liquid, thick or solid. It slows down wear on raceways and rolling elements and also lowers the temperature of the bearing assembly.

Advantages and disadvantages of rolling bearings
The variety of models and the versatility of designs of spare parts allows the use of roller or ball bearings at the household level and in the service sector. The advantages that they possess contribute to such a demand for practical mechanisms:

minimal losses from friction - cause high efficiency;
inexpensive materials of manufacture - determine the affordable cost of devices;
interchangeability of parts - facilitates equipment repair;
low consumption of lubricants - significantly saves the budget.
Also, products of this type are in demand among most enterprises due to the simple care and maintenance of bearing systems. However, when selecting rolling bearings, it is necessary to take into account their disadvantages:

sensitivity to mechanical stress;
noisy work at high speeds;
significant weight and dimensions of the models.
Correct selection of parts, installation carried out taking into account the technical characteristics of the equipment, regular maintenance of the bearing mechanisms neutralize all the shortcomings and ensure long-term operation of rolling bearings.
